The Château de Tanlay is open for the new season 2019

Open from April 13th to November 4th, 2019

  10:00 to 12:30 and 14:00 to 18:00

From 1 September, every day (including Sundays and public holidays), except Tuesday and Wednesday

Possibility of visits on Wednesdays by reservation for groups of more than 12 people. 

The Château is closed to the public between 12:30 pm and 2 pm

The History of the Château de Tanlay

Discover the Château de Tanlay

The historic Château de Tanlay is one of the finest specimens of Renaissance architecture in Burgundy.

Home of the family of the Admiral Coligny during the French Wars of Religion, it was completed by Michel Particelli d'Hemery, Mazarin's superintendent of finance, and became, in the late XVIIth century, the property of the Marquis of Tanlay.

Since then, the castle, still inhabited, has remained in the same family.

Famous for its trompe-l'oeil gallery and its frescoes in the League Tower, the Château de Tanlay offers an indoor guided tour, rich in furniture and wall decorations.

The external visit allows you to discover the common of the castle, its moat, the nymphaeum, its canal and its remarkable park.
